I like this; "When you choose not to share what you are doing, what you have accomplished, and what you plan to do, people will still form an impression of you. In the best case, you quietly fade into the background. In the more problematic case, others fill in the gaps themselves, often with assumptions that are only loosely connected to reality. They might describe you, or label you, in ways you are not comfortable with."

Thank you, Sofia, I really appreciate this, and how clearly you articulated it.

That exact dynamic was one of the main reasons I felt the need to start sharing more openly. It is easy to underestimate how quickly others will fill in the gaps when you say nothing.

And once those perceptions are formed, they are not always easy to reshape.

Much of this sounds so relatable ... especially the LinkedIn- experience. 🤢😉

All the best going forward ...

Thank you, Sven. Yes, the LinkedIn experience seems to resonate with quite a few of us… interesting to see how many are navigating that shift.

All the best to you too going forward. 😊

I always refer to LinkedIn as “a global competition in humble-bragging” 🤢😉

The balance of what’s too much and what’s not enough is so hard, and impossible when you can’t be open about it. I pivoted my business last year and while I knew what was happening I had to keep quiet until I could communicate it properly to my clients then the wider world (LinkedIn & Instagram).

I’m really looking forward to your future posts and am feeling instantly encouraged by you with my side project. Thank you.
